that question is easy.

the europeans 'founded Australia' well the aboriginals were here first but then because the aboriginals hadn't actually claimed the land captain cook came along with his European buddies and claimed it. there are some pirks and disadvantages of this

one perk is that now Australia is civilised and is a multi cultural country

a dis advantage is that the aboriginals get special treatment by the government but i guess that is okay. but that's my opinion. the europeans brought their people and then the families started taht's why most of australians are europeans.

Are the Europeans new to Australia?

When you consider that Australia belonged to the Aborigine for perhaps 10,000 years or more, yes Europeans are new to Australia having taken the land from the Aborigine some 200 years ago. Britain was not satisfied with the size of its commonwealth but wanted more. I am an Englishman who came to Australia some 50 years ago. I love it here but I am disgusted at how we obtained it from a peaceful people.

Why do few Americans and Europeans travel to Australia?

Depends on what you call "few". Another question's answer had 2.7 million visitors to Australia in 2007. I live in a tourist town and we see large numbers of Europeans (especially Germans and Britons) and Americans. Australia is closer to Asia so many of our visitors come from there, but Europeans and North Americans are more adventurous and tend to head "outback" more often than Asians, who prefer organised bus trips to hiring a car and driving.

What 2 countries share Tasmania?

Tasmania is a part of Australia exclusively. It is one of Australia's states, and is not shared with any other country. The first Europeans to find Tasmania were Dutch, hence why Australia was called, New Holland. The Dutch have nothing to do with Tasmania any more. After them the British settled Australia.

Which is the city in the northern half of Australia?

There are quite a few cities in the northern half of Australia, though I assume you are probably referring to Darwin which is the capital city of the Northern Territory and the only capital city in the northern half of Australia. Other cities in northern Australia include Palmerston in the Northern Territory, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, and Mount Isa (there a probably a few more) in Queensland's north, and Broome in Western Australia's north.
