Central Australia has a low population because it is mostly mountains and deserts. Also, the climate along the East Coast is temperate. It's hot, dry, and humid in Central Australia. There are more natural resources along the East Coast.
The Murray River begins in the southeastern highlands of Australia and continues west 2000km into South Australia. It is not considered to be an east coast river.
