Why must Muslim women cover their skin?

First of all, not all Arab women cover their whole body in black. This is simply part of the Islamic religion (to dress modestly), which a very high percentage of the Arab population follows. I myself am a Christian and do not dress in black. It is simply a choice made by some Muslim women, and certainly not by them all.

Muslim women have to cover their bodies, including head, hair, and neck but except face and hands, as per God's command and per prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) teachings that are not subject to debate or justification. However, this helps women to be modest. It helps men in not gazing at women and avoids sexual excitements.

It is important to clarify that although it is not required per religion for women to cover their faces and hands but also it is not forbidden for women to cover their faces and hands if this matches the traditions and cultures of their countries.

These Islamic clothing requirements for women are basically the same also in Judaism and Christianity but lately changed by their religious leaders. In Judaism, it remains the same requirement but only after Jewish women marriage. In Christianity, it remains the same but for Nuns only.

Women are required to cover their bodies; including head, hair, and neck;

Muslim women wear clothes that cover most of their body because Muslim men are not strong enough to resist ogling, so they have blamed the women for their own (mens)weakness and ordered them to cover themselves. It has now become part of the Muslim culture. It is equivalent to cover sweets up when you take children into a sweetshop rather than saying 'no' to them.

The Muslim women wear very gay and colorful dresses. May be, some old women wear black dress. There is no restriction on them to wear black dress. It is with the Christians, perhaps, to wear mourning dress on the death of some loved one. Black dress is generally asociated with sorrow.
