Windows XP shipped with Internet Explorer 6, so there is no copy of Internet Explorer 5 on the system. Try running the application in Compatibility Mode to see if that fixes the problem.
If the motherboard was not an exact replacement for the one that was removed, Windows may be trying to load incompatible drivers. A clean reinstall of Windows would likely alleviate the problem.
