Why need to conserve energy resources?

If you save electricity, you (or whoever pays the bills) will save money.

Also, if the whole world saves electricity, we will need less coal burning etc. to save the world against the Greenhouse effect.

We need to conserve non-renewable energy resources because their available only in a limited stock. If we keep on wasting the energy resources according to our needs then their will be nothing left for the future. Such things as Coal, oil and even reclaimed wood chip once burned to fuel heating, drive turbines and even run vehicles disappears never to be seen again. These resources take millions of years to create through natural process's. Wood (trees) need to grow and can be 5 plus years for one tree to be able to be used for energy creation. By the world using these materials at the speed they are soon, very soon these will disappear altogether. That in its worst scenario will result in the worlds power shutting down, very apocalyptic. However, more and more focus by some countries (not all) is on renewable energy, development of plankton's that can be used as a source of oil like fuel, wind power, and even using tidal movement to generate electricity.

The ones we have been using, such as those that come from petroleum, are relatively cheap and contain a great deal of energy for their weight. However, the amount of petroleum, for example, that can be extracted inexpensively and safely is limited. Until we find a way of creating sources of energy that compare with what is naturally available we should be conserving what we have.
