Crocodiles were once quite common in Vietnam....but centuries of human population pressure and habitat destruction have eliminated them. A small population of Siamese crocodiles exists in Cat Tien National Park where they were re-introduced. The saltwater crocodile is extinct in Vietnam, but was once common throughout the Mekong Delta and other portions in southern Vietnam, as well as likely along coastal north Vietnam. There are even historical reports of Tomistoma from Vietnam, but these have not been confirmed. Today only one small population of re-introduced Siamese crocodiles is what is left of Vietnam's wild crocodile population.
