There is a problem in the distributor. Either the pickup coil or the ignition module are defective. It may be cheaper to purchase a remanufactured distributor.
You don,t disconnect the computer on any car to adjust base timing. That,s what runs the car, you disconnect spark advance and that varies according to make and model. Take note if your car does not have a distributer and it,s a coil pack you can not adjust base timing that is done by the computer only. If your car has a distributer I would contact a dealer or get a Chiltons manual on how to set base timing. I could not tell you how to disconnect the advance on your car not formilar with your distributer
The 02 Chevy S10 with a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder does not have a timing belt.
There is an inline spout connector, kind of like a plug you would plug into the wall, that you have to disconnect before using timing light. This puts the engine in base timing. Set timing to specs and then plug inline spout connector back up.
8 Degrees BTDC. ( before top dead center )
Timing is 0 degrees. To do this you must disconnect the single wire connector near this distributor. It is a TAN with a BLACK stripe. Start Engine, the check engine light will be on this is OK you will clear it in the next step. Set TIMING to 0 degrees. Then turn off ignition and disconnect the battery for 1 minute this will clear the check engine light. Reconnect the TAN with Black Stripe wire connector. now reconnect the battery. Start your engine. That's it your done.
The 4.3 litre V6 engine in a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer has a timing CHAIN
The 4.3 litre V6 engine in a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer has a timing CHAIN
No , the 4.2 litre six cylinder engine in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer has a timing CHAIN
The timing should be set to Top Dead Center (TDC), but you must disconnect the electronic spark advance feature. Unfortunately, I don't know how to disconnect the spark advance. The timing chain is all that can be set. There is no way to set the timing as the distributor is not adjustable.
what is recomended when replacing timing chain in 99 blazer with a 4.3 v6
It has a timing chain.
0 degrees
That requires the use of an OBDII engine scanner. The timing is electronic controlled and the OLD timing light will not work.
It does not have one. You can not use a timing light on that year engine. The timing is computer controled. You MUST have an engine scanner to set the timing.
10 degrees
A broken timing chain is a possibility.
how do you set the timing on a 1993 Chevy pick up
