God has His times and seasons. Actually there were a few Gentiles that received salvation in the Old Testament. Rahab in the Book of Joshua was one and Ruth in the Book of Ruth was another. There were more, but this was the exception to the rule. During Jesus' time on earth more Gentiles are mentioned and then finally when the Jewish people rejected Jesus as the Messiah it was time for the Gentile to be accepted by God on a different basis, although Salvation has always come by faith in God, God created a time when mostly Gentiles could come to Him freely and in great numbers.

Salvation to the Gentiles was mentioned in the Old Testament a number of times, but the timing was God's.

What are the types of salvation in the New Testament?

There is only one type of salvation in the New Testament and that is salvation by grace: Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, It is the gift of God. A gift, of course, is a free and unconditional present. That is the only basis on which God offers salvation. The gift of God is salvation by grace and through faith. It is offered to all people everywhere.

Does the Bible say that Jesus is the mediator of salvation?

This occurs only in parts of the Bible. The Old Testament comprises the majority of the Bible, written before Jesus was born. The New Testament has portions in which Jesus is to have said that one can only come to God the Father through him (thus achieving salvation).

What was the relationship of the gentiles to God in the Old Testament?

In the Old Testament, Gentiles were seen as outsiders to God's covenant with the Israelites. However, there are instances where Gentiles showed faith and were included in God's plan, such as with Ruth and Rahab. Overall, the Old Testament emphasizes God's desire for all nations to come to know and worship Him.

Why do Jews call gentiles sinners?

Gentiles who sin are sinners, just as are Jews who sin. Gentiles are not considered to be sinners if they violate a prohibition only incumbent upon Jews, such as cutting themselves in mourning for a dead relative (as opposed to for idolatry).

How did people in the Old Testament achieve salvation?

Throughout most of the Old Testament period, the people of Judah and Israel did not seek or expect salvation. They believed that, after death, their souls went to sheol, best described as a state of semi-consciousness, similar to the pagan hades. It is only in the post-exilic period that we see a belief in heaven, and even this never became a universal belief among the Jews.People in the Old Testament period believed that God punished them here on earth for their sins, using the armies of other nations to deliver his punishment. They never believed in hell, so salvation from hell had no meaning. The Jews exiled in the Babylonian Empire must have learnt the concept of hell from their contacts with the Zoroastrian religion, but for some reason never really adopted it and therefore Jews of the late Old Testament period had no interest in any kind of salvation. However, Christianity has adopted the concept of hell with enthusiasm and, for Christians, salvation is an important need.

What is the basis of salvation in the new testament church?

Salvation can be got only by believing that Jesus died and also rose from the death for us miserable sinners. This can be vey well found in the book of John chapter 3 verse 16. For God so loved the world that that he gave us his only son, for those who believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Are there any other people apart from Jews and Gentiles?

The word 'Gentile' comes from the Hebrew for 'foreigner'. So, from a Jewish point of view, there were only Jews and Gentiles.

What is God in Christianity?

Primarily the same as it is in Judaism/Hebrewism. The only differences is the level of revelation and the opportunity to include all mankind into Salvation. In the New Covenant which now includes the Gentiles, the gift of God's Holy Spirit is freely available to all who repent and are baptized to follow Jesus Christ.

What is a summary of the Jews and Gentiles?

It depends on what you are asking. The New Testament has many verses that discuss the Jews and the gentiles. The early church was comprised of some pagans and a number of Jews who had come to believe that Jesus was the messiah. There were some very real questions in those early days about whether only Jewish believers (Hebrew-Christians) were the authentic members of the church, and whether the gentiles would be saved. Interestingly, in other verses, addressed to Jews who did not accept Jesus, the question was whether a person who remained Jewish and did not accept Jesus could be a member of the new Christian faith. (The conclusion of the church was that they could not; believing in Jesus was essential to salvation, and anyone who did not accept him would not be saved.) The church ultimately rejected Jewish customs and practices like keeping kosher or being circumcised, and moved away from its Jewish roots; it instead decided that it would reach out to the gentiles, since most Jews did not seem eager to embrace the new Christian faith. Thus, there is a verse in Acts 11:17-19, which explains, "So if God gave them [the gentiles] the same gift as those of us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ who was I to think that I could stand in god's way?" When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, even to the Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life."
