intially when we install operating system , we are suppose to select the drive where we want to install operating system, by this first of all the drive would be completed formatted and operating system install in it , so completely in our hand to select the drive to insall operating system and c drives always comes as default option to install operating system , which we can change to other drive.....if you hav any other question email me at abdul_island@Yahoo.com
C:\ is just usually the default drive for Windows to be installed on. It can be called any letter, though.
If your OS is installed on that drive yes the OS will be deleted but if your OS is on another hdd then the OS wont be deleted unless you format that other drive. if drive C: has your OS and everything else on it and you format that it will all removed nothing will be left behind. But say you had Drive I: with your OS on it and drive C: with all other data on it and your formatted drive c you would not remove the OS unless you formatted drive I:
First, install a C-compiler.
The installation CD of the new OS should be bootable. Boot the computer with the disc in, and choose to install the OS. It should give you an option to clean install, and format.
It will not affect any other OS providing these other operating systems are not on C Drive.
Good question, it really depends on the 2nd Operating System you want to install... If it is a Windows based OS you will need to Install the OS on a second drive or a new partition on your existing Hard Drive. If you are installing another OS like Linux it will give you a choice to install a boot loader that will allow a menu to switch to another OS at boot time. Here is an install guide for Vista http:/www.kapcom.com.au/How-to-install-Windows-Vista.html this is almost identical to Windows 7 Install. In a nutshell you can install a second OS without hurting your current install. More info required please
You can re-install Windows 7 (or a different OS over Windows 7) by mounting an ISO disc file to your ROM drive or by placing the Windows 7 (or a different OS) installation disc into your physical ROM drive. When you install Windows over Windows it will create a Windows.old folder in your C drive directory which contains all of your old files from your previous installation.
OS is stored bydefault in C: drive of Your computer
Hi ! The answer is : 1. When We try to check the Properties of OS partition ( C:\ drive ), it shows full occupied by data. 2. When we check the OS partition ( C:\ drive ) through Disk Management ( command utility: compmgmt.msc) it shows that there is some portion of OS drive is free. 3. When we are to try to install a fresh bout of installation of OS on the HDD, it promptly shows like " diskcontroller failure". 4. During trying to install the fresh installation of OS , there is a sound of moving Dist platter from the HDD- is a sign of a complete deffectiveness or a death of Disk Controller of HDD. thanks. Swapan
Did you format your hardrive? If you did than windows isn't on the machine anymore. You will have to install the OS again.
The drive that the OS is installed on
