The joints in the body that have the most movement are called synovial joints, or freely moving joints. Technically they are classified as diarthrotic joints. The difference between synovial joints and the other types of joints is that they contain a synovial sheath that supplies them with synovium, a lubricating fluid. Of the six different types of synovial joints the ball-and-socket joints have the greatest amount of movement.
