Parents shouldn't "track" their teens. Instead, they should keep an eye on them. These are two very different things. If your child is posting nudes all over tumblr or using your credit cards online without you permission, by all means, track them. Watch over what they're doing, ask to see their texts. I understand that AT&T has a policy where a parent can turn off their child's ability to text for a desired time period. (I could be wrong about that). It's always safe to just check up on them. You don't want them doing something they may regret in the future and you most definitely do not want them getting hurt over the internet. If you aren't sure how to watch over your kids on the internet, start off by asking them if you can see their accounts and texts, but also keep in mind they enjoy privacy at their age. If your child isn't doing anything bad, they usually wouldn't mind showing you their social media accounts. Just always keep in mind that your teen is a person too, they may be experiencing things that they don't want to talk about just yet, like their crushes and such. So keep your distance, but don't be so far that they feel uncomfortable approaching you when they're going through things that could potentially hurt them.
