How anyone can feel hatred towards a flower nobody is forcing them to look at is a mystery. Some people, sadly, have learned, or been raised, to believe what you hate, or feel superior to, somehow defines you. These people can frequently come up with explanations of their prejudice, but they never make any sense. If you are targeted by a bigot, understand it's their problem, not yours, and they aren't representative of all others. If you are bothered by displays of bigotry by a friend or acquaintance, simply ignore their foolishness and remain on friendly terms with their targets. Even grow geraniums, if you feel like it.
