Hi the harmonic balance weight prevents the shaft from flexing into an elliptical rotational pattern. staying straight and true and rotating within its axis is the name of the game in drive shaft performance.

if you have removed rear drive shaft and the front wheels will be on tow dolly then there is no sense in it.
Chock the wheels to be sure vehicle will not roll. Mark the differential and drive shaft before removing drive shaft. Remove 4 bolts from differential-end of drive shaft. Place a pan under the transmission-end of drive shaft and have clean rags handy. Push the drive shaft slightly toward the front of the vehicle while pulling downward on the drive shaft and lower it to the ground. Pull the drive shaft toward the rear of the vehicle until the front of the drive shaft pulls out of the transmission. Place the drive shaft on the ground and put rags in the transmission to prevent oil leakage and keep dust/dirt out. Assemply is reverse of removal with special attention to aligning marks on the drive shaft to the mark on the differential.
if the vehicle is all wheel drive i would not suggest taking the front drive shaft out and leave it out and drive with out it due to the transfer case is designed to have resistance and with out the driveshaft you would have no resistance and could cause very expensive and major damage. if you are looking to replace the drive shaft there are are 8 bolts total the should be an 8mm size bolt for the socket or wrench your using could also be 10mm. make sure to mark the drive shaft so you can put it back in the same way it came out and that is really important because the drive shaft is balance for the certain way it goes into the vehicle and if its not installed the right way then at 40mph it will shake really bad.

you have to carefully and swiftly remove the rear tires and spin drive shaft 4 time counter clockwise to engage the syncro mesh in the tranmission so the harmonic balancer will be in tune the the quad box which is next to the flux capacitor

NO. The center shaft that runs through the transmission is longer on 4x4 transmissions so the transfur case will slide up on it. The tail shaft housing has NOTHING to do with it.
Take the soft cover off, the drive shaft out and put the seal back in. Then install the fix kit from kubota. Its a common problem.
