They imply some kind of higher purpose or aim, or they suggest that an 'intelligent designer' has a specific intention that might be uncovered through ordinary scientific means. The above does not deny or even argue against such purposes, aims or intentions. It is just that science cannot address such things. Why questions are more at home and more likely to generate coherent answers within the realms of theology and philosophy. Science questions might be: What niche is filled by reptiles? How do reptiles help support their habitats? What effects might there be if reptiles were eliminated from their habitats, or what kinds of things might happen if reptiles were to populate areas where they are not native, following some unintentional actions by people?
