the sea looks blue as it reflects the colour off the sky;which is blue.
in actual fact, the sea-or any water-has no colour of its own
so if the sky was green, the sea would appear green too...
why the sky is blue... dont ask me!
:)
"The ocean looks blue because red, orange and yellow (long wavelength light) are absorbed more strongly by water than is blue (short wavelength light). So when white light from the sun enters the ocean, it is mostly the blue that gets returned. Same reason the sky is blue."
In other words, the color of the ocean and the color of the sky are related but occur independently of each other: in both cases, the preferential absorption of long-wavelength (reddish) light gives rise to the blue. Note that this effect only works if the water is very pure; if the water is full of mud, algae or other impurities, the light scattered off these impurities will overwhelm the water's natural blueness.
the ocean reflects the blue spectrum of light and absorbs red.

Sea water is intrinsically blue. The thicker the observed sample is, the bluer it looks. In smaller water basins, like tap water bath's and Swimming Pools, water appears colorless.
Related Information:
The blue color is caused by selective absorption of infrared spectrum of the sun light.
Water doesn't derive its color from the blue sky. However, without sunlight water can't be seen as blue.
Impurities dissolved or suspended in water may give water different colored appearances, which is more often the case in sea water and lower lakes (greyish brown) than is ice lakes higher in the mountains (blue).

The water is not blue it's just that the reflection of the sky makes the water look blue.
It depends on the on the layout of the water if its dirty it is black if it has sand Its clear and if it has seaweeds its Blue.
because the sky is blue
No, the sky is not blue because the sea is blue. The sea water is actually clear, not blue, so we can automatically rule out that the sky is blue because the sea is blue. However, if you see the sea as blue, then it's more correct to say the sea is blue because the sky is blue.
A beach has sand and and an ocean. People usually go there to have fun. You can say it's a "chill" spot.
Neptune was named after the roman god of the sea. Neptune. Also because the planet looks like it is full of water and Neptune is the god of the sea.
the color of ocean is blue because the blue color splits more and the color of sky becomes blue and it reflects the blue color and the color of sea becomes blue
Sea squirts have a body shape that looks like a sponge or a rock.
A sea is a body water that is not as large of a ocean. A sea looks blue or green in color, depending on the life it contains and the land near it.
The sea is blue simply because it's reflecting the colour of the sky. In the UK, where the seasons change dramatically, in winter, the sea looks dark grey, almost brown. In summer it lightens to blue when the sun shines.

For much of the time the Red Sea is much the same colour as other seas. However, from time to time there are blooms of bacteria Trichodesmium erythraeum and these turn the water red.
The sea isnt blue, its a light shade of green, in daylight we see the sky reflect off the surface of the water and makes it look blue. If you have ever looked at it on a dull day it looks almost grey, reflecting the clouds.
