The most likely reason is that there are so many Allergies, chances are someone is allergic to the pet. Plus, the teachers don't have enough time to spend it with kids "ooh-ing" and "ah-ing" over pets. However, I have heard of kids bringing pets to school when it relates to what the class is learning.
