Why should students who fail their classes retain and have to repeat a grade?

Because school is not a series of unrelated courses. Each grade builds on the last. If you didn't learn second grade math, the odds that you will do acceptably in third grade math are minimal. You need to repeat the lower grade and learn that before you can move on and hope to succeed.

In my opinion, students should not be forced to take any classes because it's extremely difficult to accomplish something in quality when being pressured upon.
