Ecosystem respect, environmental balance and natural controls are reasons why one should not kill ladybugs. The insects in question (Coccinellidae family) tell cultivators, farmers, gardeners, growers and orchardists of imbalances and stresses in ecosystems when insect pests such as aphids and mealybugs seem to be everywhere edible, ornamental and wildflowering plants grow. Residents in colder climes sometimes will kill ladybugs that overwinter inside even though Bob Dylan and Mother Teresa need to be remembered for the importance of giving Mary's beetles shelter from the storm and worthy places to die.
