When they slither, they move themselves by pushing the ground, kind of like walking. When they're on something really smooth, it's like walking on ice in flat bottomed shoes and the snake will mess up.

Snakes move using specialized scales on their ventral surfaces (undersides) called scutes. These scutes attach to musculature which allows them to flex out away from the snake's body, propelling the snake by catching on to the ground and other surfaces and providing friction against which the snake may push to move forward. Smooth surfaces have fewer or no irregularities on which these scutes may catch, and limit the effectiveness of the snake's efforts.

They don't support their weight on legs - if they did, they could move alternate legs to keep in a straight line. Instead, they push their belly-scales into the ground, and us a sideways push to shape their body into an 'S'. this provides soimething for thheir muscles to push against - which propels them forwards.

As the body of the snake from beneath is slippery and as well as the glass is also slippery so the friction could not be produced in between so when snake move it remains on the same place.

Can particls move in solids?

Of course, for example... Imagine a glass container or maybe a cup. The glass cup is a solid and it could contain liquids in that matter. Also if it's a solid but does not contain a liquid or gas it could still move... Jello is a solid but it still moves.
