Ecotourism defines the promotion of tourist visits to areas which have largely undamaged Natural Resources; tourist facilities are designed and constructed in such a manner as to have as minimal effect as possible on the environment in those areas.
Allowing visitors to see these areas at first hand shows tourists, and through them, others, the value of retaining the quality of such areas. It naturally follows that examples seen in these areas by visitors will encourage them - and again, by their example, also others - to better understand the value of areas where they live, and other areas they might visit, and more actively seek to protect these places.
Promoting ecotourism allows for a proportion of profits made by encouraging visitors to these areas to be channelled into further protection of natural resources; such promotion should be encouraged provided there are always strict checks in place to ensure minimal environmental impact. True ecotourism has at its heart the need to preserve wonderful places, with the idea of profits following on from that preservation, rather than profit-driven exploitation being the prime aim of bringing tourists to the area.
Ecotourism is when people come to see the natural wonders and beauty of a place and not the man made things. The Bahamas can promote ecotourism by showing the natural things.
