Amount of fuel and amont of air, and the compressability of the combustion chamber. Of course it is all relative to the amout of Rotating mass that the motor is attched to.
How do I change points to electronic ignition on a 5 hp briggs & stratton small engine?
You cannot just convert Cubic Inches to Horsepower. Take the 454 you are referring to. When this engine was produced it came with different horsepower ratings depending on year and what vehicle it was installed in. The 454 in 1970 cranked out 450 hp in LS6 trim. The LS5 version of this engine only produced 390 hp the very same year. Same 454 engine but 60 hp difference the same year. You would have to know the year and what trim the engine was to know the actual hp.

install hp cylinderheads and change out the camshaft
CC (cubic centimeter) is a measurement of displacement used to identify the size of the combustion chambers in an engine. HP (horse power) is a measurement of power the engine can produce. CC and HP are not the same.
I have the same engine different serial # but my engine is a 1970
To change the needle and seat on a 6.0- hp Briggs Quantum engine, you will need to first locate the carburetor. Remove the carburetor from the engine, then disassemble it to access the needle and seat. Replace the old needle and seat with new ones, then reassemble the carburetor and reinstall it on the engine.
no they could both have the same HP. look at the WRX from subaru it has a like somewhere around a 2.5liter engine and has close to 300hp a rgular size truck has a 5.6liter engine and has that same HP. its all in the way the motor was built.
hp=horsepower
if it is a 90-92, probably 225 hp. It should have the same engine as the 5.0 mustang.
With the 232 ci engine, 100 HP.With the 258 ci engine, 110 HP. With the 304 ci V8 engine, 150 HP. With the 360 ci V8 engine, 175 HP. With the 360-4 V8 engine, 220 HP. With the 401-4 V8 engine, 255 HP.
The displacement of an engine, measured in cubic centimeters (cc), can vary widely even among engines with the same horsepower rating. Generally, a 185 hp engine could have a displacement ranging from about 2,000 cc to over 3,000 cc, depending on factors like engine design, turbocharging, and efficiency. For example, a naturally aspirated engine may require a larger displacement to achieve 185 hp compared to a turbocharged engine, which can produce the same power with a smaller displacement.
