we are polluting and littering in our seas where marine animals live.

this is how we are killing them:

  • chucking rubbish into the drains.the animals will eat them and choke to death

There is a video you can watch, and there is a lot of information about how many seals are killed each year. This year alone there have been almost 60,000 seals killed. This is a HUGE decrease over last year due to the European Union ban on seal products. It is not easy to protect the marine ecosystems because of coastal development and other

practices that are causing sediments and other wastes to pollute the oceans. Since the

damage done to marine environments is not always as visible as the destruction done to

the land, it does not always get immediate attention. Because the oceans are not owned by

one country, laws are difficult to make and enforce. Another reason that marine areas are

difficult to preserve is that the vastness of the oceans leads some people to believe that

they cannot possibly be harmed.
