Guessing what you meant here; if it's wrong, please clarify. Normally this is done after a filtration. The filtrand is rinsed with solvent to wash off any impurities that may be left. It's rinsed with cold solvent to minimize the amount of filtrand that dissolves.

If I use a grill brush, do I need a cleaning solvent?

A cleaning solvent would help to get rid of the grit and dirt that are sealed on the metal grill by the temperatures of cooking on it. It is always a good idea to rinse completely before cooking on the grill again.

Is ethanol the solvent or solute in gasoline?

Gasoline does not have a solvent, as it is commonly used, and it does not need a solvent. This is because gasoline is not a solid that needs dissolving, it is a liquid hydrocarbon already and is a solvent more than it can ever be a solvent.

Why do you need to carry out two types of filterations to achieve purification of solids in recrystallization work?

The compound that you are trying to recrystallize is soluble in hot solvent but relatively insoluble in cold solvent. You also must remove an impurity that is insoluble in hot and cold solvent. The first filtration (a hot filtration) is to filter out the impurity. The second filtration (a cold filtration) is to filter out the (hopefully pure) recrystallized compound.

Why are pastas rinsed?

To prevent it from overcooking. Cold water will stop the cooking process. However, you need not rinse it if you want to serve the pasta immediately. -------------------------- Rinsing pasta removes the starch. If serving hot pasta, you want the starchy coating to remain in order to make your sauce stick. If you are making a cold pasta salad, you will want to rinse the pasta in cold water first.

What is a substance that other materials dissolve in?

A solvent can be described in exactly that way. The other materials here are called solutes. Solvents can be liquids or gases, and they can dissolve solids, liquids or gases to create a solution. Need a link? Look below.

What is the osmotic pressure of NaCl?

NaCl--table salt--is typically look at as the solid solute within a solution. The osmotic pressure you need is for the solvent which will need to be calculated I believe. The Van Hoff Factor for NaCl (1.9) is probably what you needed

How do you test different solvents to test different solids to see if they are soluble?

A very good way to see if some solid is soluble in a solvent is to see if the solid has the same polarity. If these oppose they will not!! dissolve or even mix. Most Salts are soluble in a polar solution like Water. There are other solids that need something like petrol or an organic Solvent to dissolve them. You could also search for the "Solubility Rules".
