Water is the only liquid known to expand in volume when passing from the liquid state into the solid state called ice. That's why any glass container filled with water or water juice would break if put in a freezer. So do the ice in both poles of the Earth, taking more volume to oceans than the original water volume before freezing.

What is the volume of attraction when alcohol and water were mixed?

The volume of the obtained solution is decreased compared with the sum of the two initial volumes.

Will Sucrose float in water?

Yes, As you dissolve the sugar into the water the volume of the water will stay the same (once the sugar has gone into solution) but the density of the water/sugar solution will have increased (there is more mass in the same volume). Thus, because when you float something it displaces a volume of liquid equal to its mass/weight, in a sugar solution the floating body will float higher because its mass/weight will be compensated for by a smaller volume of liquid.

What quantities are compared when the concentration of a solution is measured?

In science, concentration is the number of moles of solute divided by the total volume of the solution (not just the volume of the solvent). Concentration units can also include the percentage solute to the total mass of the solution; the parts per million, ppm of the solute compared to the total parts present.

A solution containing large amount of solute in comparison to solvent is?

A solution that contains a large amount of solute when compared to the volume of the solvent is called a concentrated solution. Examples of concentrated solutions are hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid. A dilute solution is one where the amount of solute is small compared to the solvent.

Does a flat worm or a cylindrical worm have a higher surface area to volume ratio?

Flatworms have a higher surface area/volume ratio compared to a cylindrical worm, this is one of the reasons for flatworms to have the structure they do.

What is true about the mass and volume of all floating objects?

The volume of liquid displaced has the same mass as the floating object.

What is a concentration of a solution?

The concentration of a solution is basically how strong the solution is.

What is te meaning of buoyancy?

The property of floating on the surface of a liquid, or in a fluid, as in the atmosphere; specific lightness, which is inversely as the weight compared with that of an equal volume of water., The upward pressure exerted upon a floating body by a fluid, which is equal to the weight of the body; hence, also, the weight of a floating body, as measured by the volume of fluid displaced., Cheerfulness; vivacity; liveliness; sprightliness; -- the opposite of heaviness; as, buoyancy of spirits.

Is concentration typically given with the volume of solvent or the volume of solution?

The concentration of a solution is typically given in terms of the volume of solution, in liters.

How can you express the solution in percent by volume?

Per cent by volume means mls of solute per 100 mls solution. So you need to know the volume of the solute and the total volume of the solution. Divide volume of solute by volume of solution and multiply by 100 to get per cent by volume.
