The US entered the Vietnam war after ww2 because the US wanted to control Communism or stop it completely and half of Vietnam was a commie country and the US did not want the Communism to spread so we entered to stop the commie side of Vietnam and to liberate the Democratic side

Not only were the US losing , but the people who lived there didn't want them there and the US population were no longer supportive of it.
The US involved Vietnam War was NOT about imperialism. Imperialism means the acquiring of an empire...such as colonies. The US wanted to keep any nation free from "communism." South Vietnam was one of those countries.
Not sure how they were different but I do know that the US supported the south because we basically wanted to stop the spread of communism. The north was controlled by communists and we didn't want to south likewise
