∙ 11y agoIt is commonly believed that King Henry VIII married Catherine Parr not out of love (or at least the proper definition of love) but rather more out the necessity of simply having a companion alongside of him during his few remaining years. In his fifties, OVERWAIT and often plagued by his ulcered leg, Henry took to Catherine because she had been already married twice to men many times older to her. If you think about it as well, Catherine Parr was also probably picked by Henry because she was a stark contrast to her predecessor, Catherine Howard, as she was more mature and subdued in nature, which would make sense seeing as how Parr was in her thirties when she married the king whereas Howard was only a teenager.
