He was famous because he was only a boy king. He was 9 when he began ruling. He was heir to the throne because his father died when he was 5 and his brother had already died. He suddenly died at the age of 18 due to an infection in the leg that spread to gangrene. He ruled for around 10 years from 1333 BC to 1323 BC. On November 4th 1922, British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun (King Tut) in The Valley of the Kings, Egypt. His tomb contained many things that gave us an insight of what life in ancient Egypt once was. His tomb contained many things such as his chariot, his throne, his stillborn children and of course his Golden mask that was made of gold and semi precious stones. This mask protected his face from decay and has enabled scientists to create a face of what they believed he looked like.
