Acts gives the information that Peter was arrested the first time because he taught the people and particularly that he taught about the Resurrection of Jesus. The second imprisonment was due to Peter healing people and the third was because Herod was attempting to please the Jews.
Paul had been arrested in the Holy Land for preaching Christianity. When taken to the Roman authorities for trial he demanded, as his Roman citizenship allowed, that his case be heard by the emperor in Rome. He was taken to Rome and, after a voyage fraught with problems, was thrown into jail there and held for a lengthy time while Emperor Nero decided what to do with him.
After persecuting Christians for so long, Paul had a change of heart and devoted the rest of his life to Christ and was jailed and nearly killed many times in doing so. He was the one who even stated that to die was to gain and to live was for Christ. He could be considered a prisoner, but his devotion and sacrifice of life was voluntary.
At first the charges against him were that he had brought a Gentile into the restricted area of the temple. Later, he was accused of being a pestilent fellow. The real reason Paul was incarcerated was because the crowd was enraged at his mentioning his call to the Gentiles (Acts 22:21-22), and he stated to the Sanhedrin that he was arrested because of his belief in the resurrection.
Peter was imprisoned and prosecuted under orders of Roman Emperor Nero.
If you are talking about St. Anthony of Padua, we have no record of him ever being imprisoned.
