George Washington really was the father of his country. He was involved in the revolution from the beginning and was everyone's choice as commander of the continental army when the fighting began. He led the army to a victory and chaired the Constitutional Convention when the war ended.

Not surprisingly, he was unopposed as the first choice to be President.
