Most religions have an inherent fear of women because the power heirarchies of men can be terribly upset by the sexual power of women. The Bible, Torah and Koran has many disparaging comments about women to try to "keep them in their place". Since women were usually pregnant or caring for infants in history, this was not so hard. Times have changed.
