The trenches were very un-hygenic and were a breeding ground for disease.

There were many animals and bugs in the trenches. The rats were the size of cats and spread disease as well as often attacking injured or sleeping soldiers. Frogs swam in the puddles and beetles and slugs climbed the sides of the trenches. Because of the wet soldiers often got trench foot, and lice could cause trench fever.

* The Trench Warfare was when soldiers would dig trenches and lay down in them with machine guns and wait for the enemy to come. They were deadly because it killed hundreds of people all at one time.

Trench Warfare was an extremely deadly form of war were hundreds of men would get out of the mud filled trenches and run across no mans land being shot at (by snipers trench brooms Thomson machine guns) and jumping over barbwire fences only to retreat because of extreme losses. But that's not even the worst part afterwords you have to clean up the mess your living courtiers oftentimes would smell of rotting carcase and would be infested with rats. Which carry diseases and sometimes case the death of many soldier's. Some would even wear gas masks because it got so bad. Many of the weapons used in this type of warfare were vary deadly at close range. If this doesn't answer your question then i don't know what will.

Trenches were made to provide soldiers shelter from the instruments of war but trenches would get wet and muddy and along with the cold gave the soldier different conditions. the most common is named after the trench. Trench foot is a cold weather injury. It is an infection caused by cold wet weather and insanitary conditions. if you go to the related links box below where I posted a link on trench foot you will see a picture of what the feet would look like and you will have an idea how horrific the trenches could be.
