Good old honest John Winthrop told William Rogers; 'You'll build no church to compete with me; and Rogers relocated in Rhode Island! Ah! 'Freedom of Religion'

I believe the group of Puritans that settled Boston was led by John Winthrop.
Roger Williams is the founder because he got kicked out of Rhode Island for his religious ideas. So he moved on with followers that also liked his ideas. they traveled a long way till they reached Providence. Roger and his followers started a settlement there and they did Rogers Religious ideas. later Providence became the capitol of Rhode Island.
Roger Williams was a well-respected Puritan preacher who came to Boston from England to become a minister. Although he had spread some ideas that were disconcerting to John Winthrop, he promoted the idea of separation of the church and the state. The concept of sole liberty suggests that people have the right to their own personal beliefs and the right to express those beliefs freely. Because his view challenged the authorities, he was taken to trial and was later banished from Massachusetts.
The governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony was John Winthrop. The Massachusetts Bay Colony was settled in 1630 by the English.

John Winthrop was the leader of a group of englishmen called Puritans. He set up Massachusets to practice a new religion. But three people named Anne Hutchinson, Thomas Hooker, and Roger Williams split from the colony because they disagreed with Winthrop's ideas for the church. Anne Hutchinson founded the colony of Portsmouth, RI. Thomas Hooker founded the colony of Providence, RI. Roger Williams founded Conneticut colony. Hope this answers it :-)
