When England was first colonizing America, the colonies controlled the eastern portion of present day U.S. and Mexico owned present day western portion of the U.S. and Texas. The colonies won the western chunk from Mexico in a war, but let them hold onto Texas. Overtime, people living in America migrated into Mexico owned Texas to live, but retained their American culture. Once there were enough American people living in Texas to create a movement, the United State annexed Texas and send in army troops to enforce a new border. There were many battles fought over the border of texas and mexico as well as battles over control of Texas, one of which being the Battle of the Alamo.
