There are several reasons why Prince Albert was just Prince Albert when he was married to a Queen. First reason is because she was Queen in her own right and not just because she was married to the King. The second was because he was German-and her advisors did not want him to have too much control over government. Third was because he was the second son of a Duke and only a Serene highness while she was a royal highness before becoming Her Majesty.

What happend to Queen Victoria's children when they grew up?

Queen Victoria produced nine children, most of whom married into the leading royal families of Europe. Princess Victoria married Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia, and was the mother of Wilhelm II of Germany and seven other children. Prince Albert became King Edward VII of Britain. Princess Alice married Archduke Louis XIV. Alice produced seven children. Among them was Princess Alix, who married Czar Nicholas II. How is Prince Albert related to Queen Victoria?

It is not for certain that they were, but for all intents and purposes yes they were first cousins. The man commonly thought of as Alberts father Duke Ernest of Sax-Coburg and Gotha was the brother of Victoria's mother Duchess Victoria of Kent. There has been speculation because of the way that the marriage between Ernest and Louise (Albert's mother) ended (she cheated on him) that Alberts father was someone other than Ernest. Two contenders that I have come across are a Jewish musician employed by the royal couple and King Leopold of Belgium-who was the brother of Ernest and Victoria.

Was Queen Victoria an only child?

Queen Victoria was the only child of the marriage between Prince Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, and the widow, Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld.Before he married Princess Victoria, Queen Victoria's father may have fathered other children. Before marrying Prince Edward, Queen Victoria's mother had been married to Emich Carl (known as Charles), 2nd Prince of Leiningen. The couple produced two children, Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Emich, Prince of Leiningen, and Anna Feodora Auguste Charlotte Wilhelmine.Charles died in 1814, leaving Princess Victoria a widow. In 1818 she married Prince Edward, and, in 1819, their child, the young Alexandrina Victoria (i.e. Queen Victoria) was born.So Queen Victoria had no 'direct' brothers and sisters, but she had at least one half brother and one half sister.

What age did Prince Albert die?

The death of Prince Albert at age 42 was diagnosed by his doctors as due to typhoid fever and this has been the traditional answer ever since. In recent years, the diagnosis of his doctors has been questioned since there were no other deaths from the infectious disease in that area at the time, Albert had been ill for some years with stomach problems, and mid Victorian medicine was not very competent. It has been suggested that Albert really had stomach cancer. His wife Queen Victoria blamed their eldest son for his father's death as Albert had been very upset to discover his young heir's affair with an actress. Victoria felt that the revelation of their son's immoral nature had broken his father's heart and he died of grief.

Which of Queen Victoria's children became the next monarch?

Queen Victoria did not pick which child of hers to came after her. Her oldest male child (Albert Edward) automatically became Prince of Wales, and next in line to the throne. Queen Victoria felt that he was not the best choice and probably would have picked one of her other sons over him to be King. She told someone that she hoped that he would die before she did, because she did not want to imagine him as King. She also gave him no responsibilities. Her son Leopold (who was about 15 years younger than Albert Edward) had a key to her box, and once when he found Bertie (Albert Edward's nickname) with it said that it was the key to the Queen's box and not for the Prince of Wales and took it from him.
