That sounds like a communist term. The Communist Russians (Soviets), Red Chinese, North Koreans, North Vietnamese, etc. all seemed to have used that term in their wars..."People's War." Apparently it reinforced communism, meaning the people are all equal...the land, the money, the government; they all called themselves COMRADE. Everybody was a comrade, they were all equal...all the same...they were the PEOPLE. In contrast, Americans were called "Capitalists" (making money)...which apparently went against communism; hence the cold war...then Korea...then Vietnam, etc. etc. etc.
So...since the US was fighting communism in Vietnam (what the whole war was about)...maybe it could be said that the Vietnam War was a people's war against capitalism.

Around 600,000 Vietnamese died in the Vietnam War. More Vietnamese died than Americans. That amazes me.
Vo Nguyne Giap was a general for the Peoples' Army of Vietnam and was in a leadership position in the Tet Offensive, the Easter Offensive, and the Ho Chi Minh Campaign. He was an important politician in North Vietnam as well.
Air war over North Vietnam. Ground war in South Vietnam; Riverine war in South Vietnam.
Yes. Vietnam was a French colony. They lost a Vietnam War and were thrown out of Vietnam before America tried to win a war in Vietnam. America also lost a Vietnam War.
Peoples lives were shatted, birth defects, etc. Look up Long Term Effects of the Vietnam War on Google.

In terms of the Vietnam Peoples Army, 1,100,000 North Vietnam soldiers lost their life. In addition there were approximately 251,000 Viet Cong deaths. There were a remaining 849,000 North Vietnamese Regulars that were in South Vietnam, but their fate is unknown.
For North Vietnam or South Vietnam? The North Vietnamese were known simply as the 'North Vietnamese Army' (NVA) to US forces, but their actual title was Vietnam Peoples' Army, as it common practice in Communist states. The South Vietnamese Army was referred to as the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN).
