That sounds like a communist term. The Communist Russians (Soviets), Red Chinese, North Koreans, North Vietnamese, etc. all seemed to have used that term in their wars..."People's War." Apparently it reinforced communism, meaning the people are all equal...the land, the money, the government; they all called themselves COMRADE. Everybody was a comrade, they were all equal...all the same...they were the PEOPLE. In contrast, Americans were called "Capitalists" (making money)...which apparently went against communism; hence the cold war...then Korea...then Vietnam, etc. etc. etc.

So...since the US was fighting communism in Vietnam (what the whole war was about)...maybe it could be said that the Vietnam War was a people's war against capitalism.
