Russia would have defeated Germany anyway, without British and US help. They would have crossed Europe with no allied army coming the other way to stop them and the Iron Curtain would have stretched much further across Europe.

The significance of the Battle of Britain was that it kept the war against Nazi Germany going in 1940-41 ... It also meant that when the Nazis invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941 there was still an active enemy in the West. Without Britain, the U.S. would probably have found it impossible to play an active part of liberating Europe, as a D-Day across the Atlantic would not have been possible.

yes Russian may have done it but you have to remember that with out the conveys coming from Britain with the suppleys early on Russian may have gone under.and for that you have to put the blame on Stalin for getting rid of all is top generals ect in late 1939.

the battle of Britain was germanys first defeat in a major battle.

Very important. Britain staying in the game meant that it could be used as the launching point for an allied invasion of Europe. The existence of a hostile England also meant that Germany could not leave Western Europe defenseless as it turned around to attack the USSR.

Air superiority is required before an invasion can successfully take place. Hitler's Germany intended to invade Britain in late summer 1940 but had to destroy the Royal Air Force first. The Luftwaffe were unable to do this, so the invasion plans were cancelled and he attacked the Soviet Union instead.

One of the most important things about the Battle of Britain was that is was the first time Germany lost a major battle in the war. Also, the British victory prevented the invasion of Britain and kept Britain in the war.

If Britain lost the Battle of Britain, they would be invaded by Nazi Germany. This would also mean the defeat of the Allies because Britain was the last Allied country left in WWII (America had not entered yet. They entered in the middle of the battle).

Yes, Great Britain would have been invaded under Hitler's Operation Sealion plan. But once the Royal Air Force's Hawker Hurricanes and Spitfires had defeated the Luftwaffe in the 1940 Battle of Britain, Hitler knew he had lost control of the skies and was forced to cancel the invasion plan.

It was the first defeat the Nazis suffered during the war. It not only proved that the Nazis were not invincible, but that they had considerable shortcomings in their vaunted Luftwaffe. By standing alone against Hitler in the Summer of 1940, Britain was able to thwart Hitler's plan for world domination. By the time America entered the war in December of 1941, Britain was able to act as the staging point for the cross-channel invasion in 1944, and as the base for the strategic bombing campaign that destroyed Germany's industrial might and infrastructure prior to Operation Overlord.

If Britain had not repulsed the Luftwaffe at this stage, the Wehrmacht would almost certainly have tried a sea invasion (operation Sea Lion ) Wehrmacht generals, however, were very aware they could not do this without certain air cover.

Why was the outcome of the Battle of Britain important of for the allies?

The outcome of the Battle of Britain was important for the Allies because it was Germany's attempt to either bomb Britain into submission, or completely destroy its Air Force in order to conduct an amphibious assault on British shores. This would have removed the last resistance to Hitler in Europe, allowing him to focus all of his forces on Russia in the east.
