It is very simple. Reef tanks are beautiful and exotic and for some a piece of nature. Unlike the marine aquarium, the main purpose of which is to house various types of fish, the true stars of the reef tank are the coral and other invertebrates.

Coral reefs are known as rainforests of the ocean because they serve as homes for the aquatic animals just like how rainforests serve as homes for land creatures. They are also known as rainforests of the sea because of the amount of both flora and fauna that lives there.
