During this era the fear of communism only grew more and more due to the situation in Russia. There weren't any official "threats" but any minor thing would agitate the population at any time. This later on became known as the "red scare" which was the great fear of communism that existed during this period.

The fear of communism was growing in the late 1940s because Russia was expanding its military forces. It was also growing because it was so different than the American way of life.
