I had the Medtronic Interstim Therapy Implant for overactive Bladder and finally had it removed 2-3 yrs. later. It never worked right and the Dr. In B'ham would tell me to meet with one of the reprensentives and let him check it out. I went to her office 3 or 4 times and no one ever showed up to talk to me. I began having a lot of trouble with my insides hurting and different things were happening so I ask the Dr. to remove it and she was very reluctant and finally I told her I would find another urologist that would take it out. Finally I had an appt. for the dr. to remove it. According to my husband I was in surgery longer that he thought I should be & finally she came out & told him that I was in recovery and everything went well, EXCEPT she could not get it all out because it was embedded and that she had to leave the piece of wire in me but that I would never know it, but I can tell you exactly where it is located and when I move a certain way it feels like a knife stabbing in my left side. I have been in lots of unnessary pain from that. Later in talking with my friends sister that works at a law firm who handled these kind of cases she said for me to look it up on the internet when it was recalled & it was recalled 4 months & 2 days before she put it in my Bladder. I just can't believe that Defribulators for the heart have been such a recall because my brother has one & it really does disturb me to think about it.
Personally,I would not advise anyone to ever have this kind of implant put in for Overactive Bladder!

The only logical reason the rep is looking to see if the patient has insurance is exactly why you think he/she is: suggesting or implying the patient needs more of his/her product. Unethical. They should not even be looking in the chart.
