The sea was important to the Greeks because they made there living from the sea.The lands they lived in was mountainous and farming was impossible.Only olive trees grew easily.They traded and founded colonies all around the Mediterranean and Black sea,too.

He was the god of the sea. The Greeks used the sea a lot to travel so they relied on Poseidon to make the travels safe for the Greeks. Also he was important because the sea provided protection for Greece.
