The French, British, and Belgians, plus many countries around the world wanted to punish Germany for their atrocities, the desolation of their nations, and demanded monetary repayment well over 100 Million marks (more in dollars of the early 20th century. They developed a treaty known as the Treaty of the Versailles or the Versailles Treaty. This treaty had 14 main points with many rules and points within each of those points. Germany was forced to give up their armed forces, the rebuilding of forces and armament. They signed the treaty mostly because they could no longer wage war. There people in Germany were starving, jobless and bankrupt. Millions of Germans, in particular Adolf Hitler (a mere corporal) were furious about the German leaders signing the treaty when they thought they were winning the Great War.

The effects from the treaty did so much economic damage and political damage to the general populace the entire nation was in shambles both socially and being unable to survive. By 1929 there was so much political upheaval bad people were able to develop the Nazi Party (socialism, workers party). Hitler managed to get appointed into the Chancellor's position. He was appointed by their president (Hindenburg). When the president died he was able to take over the country and put his evil plans into effect. The general populace was deceived by him and fell for his charms because they believed he could bring them out of their national demise. He promised jobs, housing, food and medical care. They got it but at the price of living in oppression, fear of being killed and losing their freedoms.
