It is amazing the spin some people put on things they read or hear about. The above reference mentioned that some were selling their homes in order to do more in the full time ministry, and that their efforts were to be commended. It did not encourage others to sell their homes; it did encourage us to do what we could in the preaching work. Answer: The two are different things. The one has nothing to do with the other. The full time ministry was to spread the news that the armageddon was going to happen in 1975. The only real purpose was to motivate other JWs to do the same thing: to sell their houses. They created a sense of guilt by the other JWs to do more for the watchtower: motivate to sell their houses because they told them and wrote that the end was going to happen in 1975. That's the real background for their "motivation". The watchtower has one very big problem with all their teachings and false prophesies and that is: everything is written on paper. There is absolutely no discussion possible. Someone who has the freedom to do independent thinking can very easily find the deep purpose of this kind of syntaxes. Every thinking person can very easy understand the purpose why the WT learn the JWs to avoid independent thinking, to do no higher education ( as the WT wrote many times : higher education is brainwashing), to have no association with "worldly thinking people". When 1975 passed and nothing happened was it very clear that the result was another false prophesy as in ...1914, 1915, 1918, 1925,1941… the people has lost their homes.
