Why was there one snail in tank and now there are baby snails?

Most likely cause you bought a female snail that has mated in the pet store. Female snails are capable of carying male fertilization for weeks.

You added a baby pond snail to your tank with your apple snails and ramshorn now they are all acting like they are dying except the baby snail can you tell you if the pond snail should be removed?
Sounds like you've introduced some unhealthy bacteria in your tank or that there are other things going on. Snails are pretty sensitive to changes in water chemistry. Check to make sure you haven't got elevated amonia or nitrites in your tank. Do a water change. Don't overstock your aquarium. If water concentrations are normal, treat with a natural anti-bacterial agent like melafix.
What is an assassin snail?

previous answer: no improved answer: YES! ------------------------------ based on my experience, YES they would eat baby snails! my guppies are still fry babies and i have moved them to a tank with lots of snails, and discovered that the baby snails are gone, and their tummies are now lumpy and is showing signs of distress from being so full. i think they are able to handle baby snails, they are 100% wild caught guppies but i will watch them since im a bit concerned. ill come back to this to give an update.

You can keep it in a fish tank with no water and at the bottom put 5 inches of dirt in then put apples, carrots, lettuce, and grass at the bottom also. Then put the snail in. Moisturize the cage 2 times a day for the snail. only use rain water to moisterize the the enclosure. If your snail eats it fast make sure that you have lots more food in. Well, depending on whether it's a aquatic snail or land snail, I'd say put in soil with lettuce or cabbage leaves in your snail's home if it's a land snail, and fill the tank with pebbles/sand and water as well as seaweed or lettuce for an aquatic snail.

Snails lay their eggs in white stringy gooey sacks. So, yes, it most likely is this is your issue. Keep in mind you will now have lots of babies, numbering anywhere from 15 to 100. I'd suggest you start contacting your local pet stores very soon to find a place for all those babies. And consider cutting down to 1 snail per tank if you don't wish to have this problem pretty much constantly.
Do goldfish get along with snails?
Yes they do. I went & looked in my tank the other day and saw my snail on the gravel then i went back 20 minutes later and my snails shell was on its back with the shell empty. I then looked in the tank again 5 minutes later and one of my comet goldfish was vomiting up my snail :(Yes, goldfish will eat snails if given the chance to.

No, breeding is when you take two breeds of an animal or in your case snails and make them have children and the children are now a new breed of snail so no you cannot have 1 breed to create a new breed you need 2
