You added a baby pond snail to your tank with your apple snails and ramshorn now they are all acting like they are dying except the baby snail can you tell you if the pond snail should be removed?

Sounds like you've introduced some unhealthy bacteria in your tank or that there are other things going on. Snails are pretty sensitive to changes in water chemistry. Check to make sure you haven't got elevated amonia or nitrites in your tank. Do a water change. Don't overstock your aquarium. If water concentrations are normal, treat with a natural anti-bacterial agent like melafix.

What is an assassin snail?

I have a 10 gallon tank, which is now overun by snails. I purchased an Assasin snail and for more than a month of watching him, he has not done much! I dont think he has killed one snail ( I even put him in a bowl with five snails and they crawled all over him) is my assasin snail broken or what should I expect. Will your guppies eat baby snails?

previous answer: no improved answer: YES! ------------------------------ based on my experience, YES they would eat baby snails! my guppies are still fry babies and i have moved them to a tank with lots of snails, and discovered that the baby snails are gone, and their tummies are now lumpy and is showing signs of distress from being so full. i think they are able to handle baby snails, they are 100% wild caught guppies but i will watch them since im a bit concerned. ill come back to this to give an update.

What eats an aquatic snail?

The regions these snails originate from are wide spread including the americas (north, south and central), asia and africa. Since the deportation and releasing of them into the wild the regions they can be found now are even wider.

What can you keep a snail in if its a pet?

You can keep it in a fish tank with no water and at the bottom put 5 inches of dirt in then put apples, carrots, lettuce, and grass at the bottom also. Then put the snail in. Moisturize the cage 2 times a day for the snail. only use rain water to moisterize the the enclosure. If your snail eats it fast make sure that you have lots more food in. Also clean the enclosure out 2 times a week. I hope this helps. I know this because I own 3 snails and I am breeding them now. Please E-mail me if you have any more questions about snails.

What do you put in your snail home?

Well, depending on whether it's a aquatic snail or land snail, I'd say put in soil with lettuce or cabbage leaves in your snail's home if it's a land snail, and fill the tank with pebbles/sand and water as well as seaweed or lettuce for an aquatic snail.

You have 3 mystery snails in your tank and now there is white goo ALL over the tank mostly attached and strung on the plants are these eggs?

Snails lay their eggs in white stringy gooey sacks. So, yes, it most likely is this is your issue. Keep in mind you will now have lots of babies, numbering anywhere from 15 to 100. I'd suggest you start contacting your local pet stores very soon to find a place for all those babies. And consider cutting down to 1 snail per tank if you don't wish to have this problem pretty much constantly.
