∙ 12y agoThey were built around the Industrial Revolution. Many of the inventors of the machines that were used in factories were from England. England would not let inventors leave the country for a long time so it wouldn't spread and they would have all of the wealth and prosperity.

∙ 14y agoThe majority of the American population was located in the East/Northeast (and by extension, most of the ports, as well) and it was more logical to develop factories in the northeast, where goods could be easily imported/delivered and manpower was readily available.
