Best Answer

US militants became counterparts of World War II, because when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii (the harbor was re-built way after the bombing) the US Army found out. So, because of that, the US helped Hawaii and tried to be friendly, and nice, and made a Hawaii, "Hawaii Territory", and then admitted Hawaii to the Union and the official name of Hawaii became, "Hawaii", on August 21, 1959. (The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941-which was during the proceedings of World War II) *The current governor of the US State of Hawaii, is Gov. Linda Lingle.
