Best Answer

Burial sites containing valuable objects that were intended for the use of the deceased in their afterlife were looted by robbers. Over the many centuries between the burial and modern archaeologists opening these tombs, thieves had ransacked the graves, taken what they wanted and left the remainder of the artifacts in a mess.

What is the point in the secret locations inside the assassin's tombs in Assassin's Creed 2?

if by secret location you mean the tombs, then the answer is that if you finish all of the tombs (to finish a tomb, you have to go in one and get to the other end, where you will find a grave casket thingy, you have to open it and take the artifact that's inside it). if you collect all the artifacts, you will get Altiars Armor.
