the mustang was created as a mid level car for younger people. the term "pony car" was coined from these, would later include the camaro and firebird, its been the dominant car in its class, especially since recently, the other cars competing with it, were taken out of production (camaro and firebird) in 2002 (final sale years for the f body) the camaro and firebirds sales combinaned, still sold only 1 car for every 4 mustangs sold.
