because the are nomad hunters
Because they wanted the land the Indians had so they attaked them for it and made them move
The Sioux tribe built teepees to live in. They were usually constructed out of animal hides and wood, and were easy to take down and move.
There were three major types of Sioux Indians:The Lakota or Teton Sioux Indians needed shelter that they could move around with. They used teepees made of wooden poles or stakes and tanned buffalo hide. The wood used for the poles depended on what was available in the area they used for camp. The Nakota tribes used teepees when traveling, but had semi-permanent earth lodges. The Eastern Sioux or Dakota lived in bark-covered longhouses with pitched roofs. They used the wood that was available in the area.

Buffalo was the main source of the Plain Indian's food as it provides them with flesh and clothing! Because buffalos never stay still (they migrate), the Plain Indians always have to be on the move to stalk and hunt down their prey. The Plain Indians were nomads - they do not have a fixed house address like you do. They have to follow wherever the buffalos went - so they needed a type of shelter that can be built fast and can be easily taken down if needed. A shelter that will stay warm during the winter and cool in the summer. Overall, a convenient and comfortable shelter. I'm sure you all have one!
