The Incas and other native American societies were extremely susceptible to European diseases because they had never been exposed to the diseases and so had no herd immunity, allowing the disease to spread rapidly and freely.

In Europe the many people that had previously had these diseases were immune, and so could not catch it again, giving the Europeans some degree of herd immunity. Once the disease ran out of easily-available nonimmune people, it could no longer spread..

They have never been exposed to them and none in the groups had any immunity to them. Diseases such as smallpox, influenza, measles, and even chicken pox proved deadly to American Indians. The death tolls from the newly introduced European diseases often reached 80-90 percent. Entire groups of people vanished before the tidal wave of disease.

This happened because these societies were never exposed to the diseases from the Europe. They had no so called as herd immunity to these diseases. So the general population had no antibodies to the diseases. So they felled pray to the infectious agents very easily. This remind me of the deaths caused in the Europe due to black death. The reasons were same.
