Depending on the sound, it could be a slipping belt or a worn pulley bearing.
A slipping belt is typically caused by a belt that needs adjustment or by a weak idler spring.
A worn pulley bearing can be any of a number of things, the bearing on an alternator, an idler pulley bearing... who knows until you get into it.
Also, sometimes a worn heater motor will make a terrible noise when it's cold, as can a radiator fan motor.
If it's cold outside do you want cold air blasting when you get in your car?
The reason that your 1996 Caprice might start when its warm out but not when it's cold is because, when the air is cold, it is easy for the car to freeze. Sometimes it just takes a while, and all cars tend to have trouble with this on occasion.?æ
If the other cells are still good, it's not too cold outside, and you don't have to crank it for long - then they usually will.
Have the battery checked.
warm start is when your car has already been started an is hot, a cold start is wheen you have just started the car for the first time of the day, or month....
have your brakes checked
Sure, connect it to the car with jumper cables.
The power steering belt is in need of adjustment or replacement.
Im a sixteen year old guy who has a cold blooded car and it means when it is cold out side and i mean cold like gotta wear a jacket or something. When you start your car it will idle okay sometimes but will die if you dont pump on the gas. If its cold outside the engine is cold so if you want to just hop in the car and put it in drive you just cant b/c the car will die b/c the engine is to cold and the car will shut off on you. So you got to let the engine worm up before you can drive. Mostly happens with older cars
Sometimes when a car over heats and it is really warm outside your car will not start due to " vapor lock "
no
Smelling a gasoline smell when the weather is cold could mean that the gas is set too rich. It would also be possible that the carburetor needs to be checked for a fuel leak.
